Summer in the Hamptons — Events

Published by Wednesday Martin

In the Hamptons in the summer, there are plenty of "events." Charity luncheons, charity dinners, auctions for a good cause, shopping for a good cause, or just "girls nights out" (we like to go out together without our husbands or our kids sometimes!) — you can be as busy as you like. When we go to these events, we affirm our tribal affiliation, just by being there--it shows that we care about the same things — and by connecting with one another.

Here's me with Stephanie Hessler at lunch (at the justly popular Tutto il Giorno) after a conversation with Lea Carpenter about her critically acclaimed new novel, Eleven Days, about a mother and her Navy SEAL son. The discussion that followed was moderated by New York Times journalist, author (of Beauty Junkies) and total pistol Alex Kuczynski (love her!) The event took place at the Southampton Center on Job's Lane and the mistress of ceremonies was my friend Simone Levinson, a treasure and one of the people who made the Southampton Center happen.  The event was lovely and the women were groomed to perfection!
